Back in December, we announced our plans to continue our support for the Pajama Program, Devereux Florida and Sun Youth as our holiday charities. Thanks to our generous employees, we’re pleased to update you on the outcome of our efforts.
The Pajama Program
The Pajama Program charity collects new pajamas and books for children in difficult circumstances. Their goal is for “…every child to feel the love and security that ensures peaceful sleep — and to awaken with the energy and spirit to make every day positive, happy and hopeful.” The New Jersey and Rhode Island offices collected cash donations along with books and PJs through our annual movie night, 50/50 raffle and more.
The combined efforts allowed us to donate 264 pair of pajamas and 46 books to children in need. Employees also raised $1,778, which was matched by the company for a total of $3,557. Denise Violand, President of the New Jersey chapter, says this money will be used to buy more books and pajamas for children throughout the state for the rest of the year.
Devereux Florida
Another charity being supported by our Orlando office is the Devereux Florida organization, “the largest not-for-profit provider of child welfare, behavioral health and intellectual/developmental disabilities services in the state.” The Orlando office chose Devereux Florida because, as ADD Project Manager, Rhonda Matlack says, “many of the children they sponsor are at their lowest point, when the situation is critical or may seem hopeless.”
Some of the fundraising activities planned included a 50/50 raffle, company raffles, and an employee-sponsored brunch. The Orlando office raised $2,315, which again was matched by ADD Systems, for a total of $4,630. As Rhonda explained, “We collected more this year than ever before. I’m sure the children will appreciate the pajamas and books that will be provided for them.”
Sun Youth
Meanwhile, our Montreal office will continue their commitment to Sun Youth, whose goal is to “distribute Christmas food baskets to over 12,000 people and 5,000 new toys for their children 12 years and under.” The Montreal office collected food baskets and toys through mid-December. “The generosity of our employees not only helped in bringing a brighter holiday season to families in need, but also gave them hope for a brighter 2018,” said Maria Scandella, Executive Assistant here at ADD Systems.
The Montreal office collected 11 boxes of non-perishable food items, along with some toys. General Manager of the Montreal office, Vilem Kostlivy, added “We have to give a huge thank you to Maria for putting her whole heart and soul into organizing and collecting donations for a successful charity drive.”
Thank You!
We want to thank our employees for their generosity and dedication to helping those in need. We hope you’ll join us in supporting these children’s charities, or one of the many other charities that deserve our attention.
