ADD Systems was honored to be asked to participate in this year’s annual New York State Weights and Measures Association (NYSWMA) meeting held in Syracuse, New York. The purpose of this gathering was to better educate both state and local weights and measures officials on mobile, on-board devices. A group of some 75 specialists came to the multiday meeting to discuss various topics including:
- What are these devices capable of doing?
- What are the limitations?
ADD Systems’ presentation focused on the Raven® on-board computer. The NYSWMA approached us knowing that we have over 6,000 devices deployed nationwide, including some of the largest oil and propane dealers in New York State. Gregg Lounsbury, ADD Systems software application specialist, took the group through the product and the benefits derived from using it in conjunction with the comprehensive ADD Energy E3® back office system.
ADD Systems president, Bruce C. Bott, who participated in the meeting explained that:
“We were approached by Mike Smith, Weights and Measures Specialist II, to participate in the conference in an effort to educate everyone on the power of Raven.”
The NYSWMA group handles all of the inspections of Liquid Propane (LP), and most of the local municipalities handle the distilled products like Fuel Oil and Diesel. Onboard computing was an area of some trepidation for the officials and ADD was happy to help clear up any confusion. Bruce explained that:
“We wanted to help eliminate any area of concern with on board products in general and it came as a pleasant surprise to Mike when he learned that our Raven has been National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) Certified since April of 2014.”
An NTEP certification means that the Raven is certified for use in any state without any individual state testing. This is not only a benefit to ADD’s multi-state customers, but a very useful piece of information for any state weights and measures association.
ADD has been providing solutions to the energy industry for 43 years and this puts us in the unique position to help educate. We are honored to have been asked to participate this year and we hope to join the event next year to discuss other products like ADD eStore used in many convenience stores throughout the state of NY.
