ADD Systems is growing, and we continue to showcase that through our new employee series. Earlier this year, we showcased new talented people in software design and quality assurance. This month, we are displaying our Implementation Department. Alex Jackson is a unique employee in that he was employed previously at ADD Systems and has come back after a number of years. Between his industry knowledge, software familiarity, and overall positivity, we are delighted to welcome Alex back with open arms.
“Alex Jackson has returned to ADD Systems as an Implementation Specialist,” said Cathy Brady, ADD Systems’ Training Manager of the Implementation Department. “Alex has a great knowledge of Pegasus, which is the software that could be used in a service department. Alex is also now involved with new conversions which will make him a wonderful all-around asset for the Implementation Department.”
Describe your new role at ADD Systems
I am an implementer in the Training & Implementation Department.
Where are you originally from?
I grew up in the Richmond, Virginia area and worked for a home heating oil dealer and HVAC service client of ADD Systems for about 10 years doing just about everything other than pumping product and turning a wrench, which gave me a broad understanding of the petroleum business in general and ADD System software in particular. The client used Energy (precursor to E3) and Pegasus at the time, both of which I used extensively.
What is your current role and what types of projects are you working on?
I am currently an implementation specialist working mainly on projects involving software upgrades and new customer implementations.
What is your favorite part of your job so far?
I thrive being on the road, so my favorite part is when I travel on-site to clients.
Do you work both on-site and remotely for customers?
Yes, I go on-site for various implementation projects as well as software use consultation visits; I also perform pre-live training & live support remotely for some projects.
Is there a particular city/state you visited recently?
Most recently in June 2024, I visited a diversified energy company in Ravena, New York to consult on service, service inventory, and Pegasus use & efficiencies.
What are you most excited to learn about in the industry?
I’m excited to visit our different clients and observe how they use our software to overcome challenges; no two companies seem to do things exactly the same way. A testament to how scalable our software solutions are!
Why are you drawn to your new role? Otherwise, how does your role serve a deeper meaning for you?
As I said, I love to travel. I also appreciate how our clients are often amazed by how our software solutions accommodate their needs.
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Passionate, creative, pivotable.
What are some of your favorite hobbies?
Surprise, surprise: technology; also watching/reading science fiction (especially Star Wars); camping/hiking.
What is a good piece of advice to follow?
Listen to, don’t just hear, what people are saying.
Who, professionally and personally, has made the biggest impact on you?
Probably the CFO of the ADD Systems client where I worked previously; he was also one of my Boy Scout merit badge counselors growing up.
What is a surprising aspect about you people might not expect?
For someone with a technical job and background, I do have a bit of an artsy side. One of my minor hobbies is crafting paracord bracelets- probably due to my Eagle Scout background.
What is the most important core value a company can have?
Empathy, both for its customers and employees.
