Describe your new role at ADD Systems
Here at ADD Systems, I work with developers during the development process to test bug fixes as well as enhancements for eStore, eStoreScan, and Atlas. This process minimizes bugs found by our customers and ensures that the end product being delivered matches the expectations of those who requested it.
Where are you originally from?
I am originally from New York but spent most of my life growing up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
What types of projects are you working on?
I am currently working on testing a variety of large and small enhancements and fixes to eStore, Atlas, and eStoreScan. These include enhancements requested by the ADD User Group, as well as specific enhancement requests and fixes with our software.
What is your favorite part of your job so far?
I would have to say that my favorite part of my job is working with the people around me and finding unexpected behavior when testing eStore, eStoreScan, and Atlas.
What are you most excited to learn about in the industry?
Everything I can. This industry was new to me when I came into this role. But I am definitely also excited to continue learning about all the new technology that is being incorporated into this industry and how we can continue to evolve along with it.
Why are you drawn to your new role? Otherwise, how does your role serve a deeper meaning for you?
I enjoy being a “safety net” for the developers on my team. Ensuring that developers can rely on me to make sure their code is functioning as expected is a great feeling. It’s just a bonus that it turns out that finding issues can be quite fun.
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Reliable, easygoing, and patient.
What are some of your favorite hobbies?
Playing and watching sports as well as hiking, reading, and traveling are all big hobbies of mine.
What is a good piece of advice to follow?
The first one that pops into my mind is to treat others how you want to be treated. Following that principle tends to lead to a better understanding of others and usually results in a good and healthy work environment, personal environment, and so on.
Who, professionally and personally, has made the biggest impact on you?
Throughout college, I was lucky enough to get a handful of professors who would let me be curious and ask outside-the-box questions. This allowed me to start digging deeper into the courses and real-world applications. But even more importantly, it taught me the value of communication and critical thinking.
What is a surprising aspect about you people might not expect?
I am a big adventurer. My wife and I love to see as many new sights as we can. For example, following college graduation, we went on a 10-week road trip around the U.S. with our CRV and a rooftop tent.
What is the most important core value a company can have?
To remain honest and persistent. Honesty maintains that we are doing what is right even when it may be challenging, and persistence ensures that we continue to strive towards new goals and greater heights.
