In 2017 Mirabito recognized that, in order to be competitive in their commercial market, they needed to be responsive to some specific customer needs. We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Eric Bunts, Chief Information Officer at Mirabito, to discuss their business challenge and the related success they found with the new Raven Fleet Fueler.
ADD: Tell us a little about Mirabito.
Eric: Since 1927, Mirabito has been family owned and operated. Mirabito provides energy products and services for families and businesses throughout upstate New York, western Massachusetts, and Connecticut, with corporate offices located in Binghamton, NY. In addition to being an energy provider, Mirabito owns and operates more than 100 convenience stores throughout Central New York and Northeastern Pennsylvania, making Mirabito a convenient stop for customers and one of the largest convenience store chains in Central New York. The Mirabito Family of Companies includes Mirabito Energy Products, Mirabito Convenience Stores, Mirabito Truck Repair and the Rewards Plus customer loyalty program.
ADD: What challenge did you have that needed to be addressed?
Eric: We had a growing percentage of commercial customers, in multiple markets, who required vehicle specific fuel delivery information. As we did not have a solution that could provide this level of breakdown, we realized we needed to incorporate one in order to stay competitive in these markets.
ADD: Before you decided to work with ADD Systems, did you look at any other solutions?
Eric: Yes, we looked at multiple vendor solutions.
ADD: What made you choose ADD in the end?
Eric: Our long standing business partnership. We felt that an integrated solution within ADDS would be the most beneficial to both ourselves and our customers.
ADD: How has the new Raven Fleet Fueler affected your operations?
Eric: The Fleet Fueler application has allowed us to service our customers with the equipment level fuel delivery information they require. It automates the item-level breakdown per piece of equipment and has controls built in to ensure that only registered equipment is able to be fueled.
ADD: How has ADD Systems’ training and ongoing support on the Fleet Fueler been?
Eric: As we were the early adopter for the solution, we worked hand in hand with development and had multiple on-site visits from the development team. ADDS has been very supportive of the product. As with any new solution, there are some issues that come up after the initial rollout, but our support rep was very responsive in resolving issues as they were uncovered.
ADD: After implementing the product, what results did you see?
Eric: Not only were we able to re-secure a few key customers we had lost by not having a fleet fueling solution, but we have also been able to grow our customer base in this market segment.
ADD: Have there been any additional benefits?
Eric: Some of our larger customers have specific requirements when it comes to the look and information on their invoice. With the Raven Fleet Fueler, we are not locked into any one format. ADD Systems makes it easy for us to meet those needs by optionally handing us all the delivery information in a flat file, so that we can design the invoice ourselves. This has helped us attract and keep some important accounts.
ADD: Would you recommend the product to others?
Eric: Yes, I believe this to be one of the most innovative fleet fueling products on the market today.

ADD: How easy has ADD Systems been to work with?
Eric: ADDs is an excellent partner. They are willing to listen to customer needs and target product development accordingly.
ADD: Is there anything else you would like to add?
Eric: After utilizing both the new Raven and Fleet Fueler programs, we are confident we made the right decision in our product selection. We have been able to fulfill all of our application objectives and are very pleased with the finalized products.
