As a company that serves over 70 towns, BantamWesson helps many people throughout Connecticut with their home and heating needs. BantamWesson was previously known as Wesson Energy, but a merger with Bantam Home and Energy created BantamWesson. This increased their community reach and the services they offer.
“We offer bioheat, propane fuel, services, and installations,” said Margarita Barbour, Director of IT at BantamWesson. “We have diversified so that we can offer much more to our customers. Our energy efficiency division performs air sealing and installation of insulation and windows to help our customers save money. We also have electrical, pest control, plumbing, and water treatment.”
BantamWesson is dedicated to offering their customers the most energy-efficient home solutions. Their environment-first approach comes from wanting to provide affordable services, lead with progressive energy solutions, and make their communities cleaner and safer.
Because BantamWesson serves four counties across Connecticut, they need software that helps them work as efficiently as possible. Their use of ADD Systems E3, E360, SmartConnect, Atlas Reporting, and Raven helps them achieve this. The automation in ADD’s software helps BantamWesson save time, reduce delivery mistakes, improve communication between their departments, and be more profitable.
“I can’t even imagine what it would be like if I had to calculate each of those deliveries by hand,” Barbour said.
BantamWesson finds value in not only ADD Systems software but also in the customer service offered. Having software experts only a phone call away has helped BantamWesson cater their ADD products to fit their needs. Maria Espinosa, Logistics Branch Manager at BantamWesson, mentioned how helpful the ADD Support team has been and how ADD Systems technology has made her work more efficient.
“Before, when I first started, there were a lot of manual lookups, especially with the tank monitors, but now it’s all done through ticket selection, and it’s so easy,” Espinosa said. “I used to dread dispatching, and it used to take four to five hours. Now it takes me 45 minutes.”
As advocates of the ADD Systems Suite, both Barbour and Espinosa have come to love many software features. While using E3 alone adds efficiency to their operation, adding additional products like SmartConnect adds even more. Barbour loves the number of APIs she can use with SmartConnect; she finds using SmartConnect to interface with her customer web portal especially useful.
“We can display to customers their accounts. They can order fuel and create price protection, and it all comes through E3,” Barbour said. “Less work on our end, fewer phone calls from the customers. The customer has a self-serve service to view statements and invoices right online.”
Learning new software for the first time can seem like a long, difficult task. As an ADD User Group member and a previous BTC attendee, Barbour has taken advantage of our services to learn about ADD Systems software. Espinosa also offered advice for those new to ADD Systems products: a less-is-more approach that could help those with limited software experience.
“Be open-minded, look at the screen, and read what you’re looking at. Simple,” Espinosa said. “Don’t be afraid of it. What is it asking for? Look at what you’re reading, and go forward.” With the F1 help key ready, the software is there to assist you in what you need to do.
