Linda Carrer started with ADD Systems back in 1991 on the Tuesday after Memorial Day. She had made it through 3 interviews, but she was still uneasy about her Customer Service Representative job offer. For the first couple weeks she doubted that she’d ever get up to speed on the software and the industry. 30 years later, she’s retiring as one of ADD’s most knowledgeable team members and a beloved Customer Support Manager.
Gale Bott recalls Linda’s first years fondly, “I remember interviewing Linda years ago. She was the perfect fit for the job, friendly, unassuming, and a quick learner. Since then she has contributed so much to the department.”
After less than 10 years, Linda was promoted to Customer Service Manager, where she worked to promote a team atmosphere. She never liked to be called “boss.” Getting the job done right meant cooperation and open communication – teammates and friends, rather than hierarchies.
Linda is proud of what her team accomplished. More than just simple customer service, they are full-service software support. She instilled in her team the importance of being good listeners, always seeking to understand client needs and give the best support possible. Relationships were at the heart of it all, both within the support group and with ADD clients. Linda has made lifelong friends with both.
“The customer support team has thrived under Linda’s leadership. She’s taken the group to the next level with a superior commitment to getting the job done right,” shared Rob Culbertson, Senior Vice President and COO at ADD Systems. “She will be missed.”
Linda shared that “before I came to ADD, family meant blood relatives, but ADD Systems changed that. ADD Systems is family. It’s really true. We care about each other and our customers. Bruce’s founding principles of ‘be fair, be honest and treat others as you would like to be treated’ ring true here.”
It is no surprise that Linda has plans to spend much of her retirement time volunteering for causes dear to her heart, like supporting underprivileged people, animal shelters and the cancer society. They will be lucky to gain such a caring individual.
