One constant in being part of a software company is change. New technologies, innovations, and products are always on the horizon. This change helps serve our clients year after year. Behind this change and constant improvement are the people. While ADD Systems has many valuable longtime employees, we always welcome new, creative individuals who allow us to think outside the box. We have hired in Projects & Wholesale Implementations, Retail & BI Applications, Operations, Support, Mobile Engineering, and Sales. Hear what some have to say so far about their ADD Systems journey.
What have you learned so far while working at ADD Systems?
Lisa Kiernan (Documentation Specialist – Retail & BI Applications): I’ve learned how much ADD values relationships with employees and customers. You can see it in the number of long-term employees and the way new employees are supported. There is always someone on your team willing to answer your questions. I’ve also had the chance to sit in on training calls and User Group meetings, and it is obvious that building long-term relationships with customers is just as important.
Erik Slader (Junior Developer – Retail & BI Applications): In addition to learning much about the background logistics of the petroleum industry and POS devices, I’ve learned how to utilize T-SQL for database management and enhanced my grasp of C# for software development.
DJ Morris (Software Support Representative – Support): First and foremost, I have learned that ADD Systems truly deserves the recognition that it gets. I say this from both standpoints of being in a new office environment as well as having to support the software; ADD Systems has been a blessing. I feel welcomed by my peers, appreciate the benefits provided, and have unlimited resources for help. Specifically, I’ve been learning about our mobile products and greatly appreciate both our internal and external facing documentation as it not only helps me, but our customers, too.
Christopher Giordano (Software Support Representative – Support): There is a lot to learn, and every day I am learning something new, but the biggest things I have learned so far are that this is a wonderful company with everyone at the ready to help you whenever you need it. In regard to the actual ADD software, I have been learning E360 mostly.
What are some areas you look forward to continue learning about?
Lisa Kiernan: I have an extensive background in education and learning development, so I’m looking forward to learning how I can leverage that and extend our traditional documentation beyond help files. Our software is extensive with its functionality and options, so our content can be a strategic learning tool to assist with new user training and continued knowledge development.
Erik Slader: I look forward to further refining and expanding my programming skillset by continuing to learn from the excellent people at ADD Systems.
DJ Morris: I am looking forward to not only becoming an expert in the mobile product area but also learning as much as possible about our full software suite and the industry, too. The energy distribution industry is entirely new to me, and I strongly believe I couldn’t have chosen a better company to learn it through. I’ve barely scratched the surface thus far and therefore look forward to learning as much as possible.
Christopher Giordano: I look forward to learning the ins and outs of E360, especially as it continues to grow bigger with new features. I also love to learn about our industry. It was something that I was always aware was here, but getting to be involved and watching it all happen is a great time.
Every new employee begins with Dawn Quinn, our Learning and Development Specialist. Dawn has been with ADD Systems for nearly 30 years in both our Customer Service and Administrative departments. Besides her welcoming, friendly demeanor, she helps new employees get acquainted, and she has a wealth of knowledge in many aspects of our company. She continuously serves as a resource for employees, new and old.
“It means a lot to me to know I am a part of the new employees’ journeys at ADD Systems,” Quinn said. “I often tell new employees how lucky I feel to be in Learning & Development, where I literally get to be Customer Service for ADD Systems: helping people with questions and problems, training them on new software, and working with new employees on their introduction to our company, industry, and software. It is awesome watching the employees I started out with grow into productive employees.”
ADD Systems President, Bruce C. Bott, expressed how business success is predicated on the individual contributions of team members:
“Businesses that survive the test of time all experience employee turnover. We all know that retirements happen, and we all know that businesses evolve and change, so there’s always a need to seek new talent as companies mature. Finding the right person is more than just putting a warm body into a seat and asking them to complete the following tasks in the following way. At ADD, we want people who can perform the core responsibilities, but we also want people who can think outside the box. Innovative thinkers help transform jobs in order to keep pace with today’s fast-moving business environments.”
Innovative team members, whether hired last week or 20 years ago, have been a key part of our strategy to make ADD Systems relevant, fresh, on the cutting edge of technology advancements, and in business for more than 52 years. They play a critical role in helping our clients serve their customers across North America.
